TEREA and HEETS Compatibility: Which Sticks Work With Which IQOS Device?

One of the most common questions from new IQOS users in the UAE is whether TEREA and HEETS sticks are interchangeable. The short answer is no, and mixing them up with the wrong device can damage your hardware or simply fail to heat properly.

TEREA Sticks Are Built for ILUMA Devices Only

TEREA sticks contain a small metal element inside the tobacco plug that reacts to the induction heating system used exclusively in IQOS ILUMA devices, including the ILUMA i, Prime, and One. This bladeless design is what allows ILUMA devices to heat without a metal blade.

HEETS Sticks Are Built for Older IQOS Devices

HEETS sticks, by contrast, are designed for the earlier generation of IQOS devices that use a heating blade inserted directly into the stick. These devices predate the ILUMA line and are not compatible with TEREA sticks, since there is no blade to insert.

Why You Should Never Mix the Two

Trying to use a HEETS stick in an ILUMA device will not produce vapour correctly, since there is no blade to heat it. Trying to force a TEREA stick into a blade-style device can damage the heating blade or fail to make proper contact with the induction coil. Always match your stick type to your specific device generation.

Not Sure Which Device You Have?

Check the model name printed on the device itself, or compare it against the current IQOS ILUMA kits available in the UAE. If in doubt, only TEREA sticks are sold for ILUMA devices, so any listing for TEREA implies an ILUMA-generation device is required.
